“As an electrical engineering student, APIE opened the doors to network engineering”
Rudra Roy
Student, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology – BUET
Q1: What’s one skill or experience you gained through APIE that you wouldn’t have learned elsewhere?
Before APIE, I had never experienced working with AWS or cybersecurity. These were entirely new areas for me. Even though the workshops were short, they were very informative and engaging.
On the third day, we had a session on DNS and DNS servers led by Mr. Awal. That workshop really stood out to me — it was both interesting and easy to follow, and I felt like I learned more in that one session than in many others. It made a lasting impression.
Q2: How do you see yourself applying what you learned in APIE in your future career?
As an engineer, I’m always curious — I want to explore new fields. I come from an electrical engineering background, but thanks to the APIE online courses and hands-on workshops, I’m now seriously considering a future in network engineering.
Before this, I used to wonder about things like why our internet lags or why servers crash — for example, when thousands of students try to log in at once after exam results are published. Now, I’m finally beginning to understand those problems, and more importantly, how to fix them. This program has turned my curiosity into a possible career path.
Q3: If you could describe APIE in one word or phrase, what would it be and why?
I’d say: “Darun.”
It’s a word from my native language, Bengali. We use it when someone does an outstanding job. For me, this whole APIE experience was just that — darun. It was beyond great.
