Onboarding the Next Wave of Internet Learners in Timor Leste

The APIE Kick-start Workshop held on June 24 at the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL) Hera campus marked a new chapter. Designed to onboard new students to the APIE learning pathway, the workshop brought together 27 senior engineering students for a full-day interactive session.

The workshop introduced the APIE program structure, related learning platforms, and Inxignia. Students had a glance of the Understanding the Internet course, and despite technical limitations with the campus network, students showed great perseverance and interest in joining future APIE activities.

Through introductory talks, hands-on registration, and a lecture on the philosophy of the Internet, the session provided both orientation and inspiration. Certificates were awarded at the end of the workshop, and photos captured a sense of excitement and community among participants.

UNTL staff and volunteers will continue supporting students as they they are expected to join the Core Course in August. The ultimate goal is to have the first batch of Timorese students attending near future APIE Camps.
