APIE Core Course Batch 8 Kicks Off with First e-Workshop

On January 31, 2026, APIE Core Course Batch 8 officially began with its first e-Workshop, welcoming 390+ participants from 18 universities across 9 economies — Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

This kickoff also marked an important milestone for the program, with students from Laos joining APIE for the first time, further expanding the regional learning community.

The session was hosted by Keiko Okawa, Director of SOI Asia, and supported by 12 teaching assistants, all APIE alumni, together with the SOI Asia and APNIC Foundation teams.

Rather than starting with theory alone, participants were invited to reflect on their own Internet environments — including connection speed, latency, and physical and technical conditions — helping connect everyday experience with core Internet engineering concepts.

This session was the first of six e-Workshops, running through mid-April, and officially launched the learning journey for APIE Core Course Batch 8. Together, this cohort reflects the strength of regional collaboration, peer learning, and community-driven capacity building at the heart of APIE.
